During your stay at Palazzo Cozza Caposavi you can visit the VesConte partner stables. It is possible to train or walk inside the trials area, with the possibility of jumping a show, or go out for a walk in the woods, among the ancient paths of the Via Francigena, on the shores of the lake, passing through the ancient Etruscan ruins. More unique than rare routes that only this area offers.

The baths of the Popes, over the centuries a favorite place of the ancient Romans to which the classical Latin authors have left us testimony, then a regenerative place for the Popes, also mentioned by Dante and in Michelangelo's sonnets, they are among the most beautiful spas in Italy and among the few fed by a natural-healing spring.
The Bullicame spring, sulphurous-sulphate-bicarbonate-alkaline-fluorinated earth with its 58°C, has always been appreciated for its therapeutic qualities. Its remarkable value lies precisely in the chemical-physical characteristics that make it suitable for many uses in thermal therapy (always among the most appreciated in Medical Hydrology), in particular in the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases of the entire respiratory and the osteoarticular one;
skin diseases, genital tract diseases and metabolic diseases find a considerable benefit thanks to the treatments carried out with this water. The same spring feeds a splendid monumental swimming pool of over 2,000 m2. For guests of the VesConte, special treatment is reserved as it is the only structure in Bolsena that has an exclusive agreement with the Terme dei Papi in Viterbo.

OF HISTORY
500 YEARS
Located in the square in the historic center of Bolsena, 550 meters from the lake, the VesConte is a period residence located in the historic 16th century palace of the Counts Cozza Caposavi and over the centuries has hosted various members of the European royal families, two Popes, and among the most important writers and cinema characters passing through northern Lazio.
The position, on the ancient via francigena and the imperial road Cassia, made Bolsena an obligatory stop for travelers between Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio.

500 YEARS
Traveling along the ancient road that connects Orvieto with the Cassia through the Umbrian countryside, you come across the impressive size of an enormous volcanic basin where - in the Paleolithic period - a wonderful lake was formed, surrounded by green hills.
north of the lake is the city of Bolsena from which the lake also takes its name.
This suggestive and charming medieval village influenced by Etruscan and then Roman settlements, began to grow in the XIII century and remained an area of strategic and commercial importance for over 400 years.
Palazzo Cozza Caposavi - declared a national monument and part of the Italian Historic Houses Association - was built by Cardinal Tiberio Crispo in 1561 as a personal residence, but he only lived there for a year. In fact, the Bolsenesi - annoyed by his pride - had the cardinal removed from the position of Governor of the Patrimony of St. Peter's.
On that occasion the building was divided into two different palaces: the one towards the fortress became the Cozza property while the one towards the Medici fountain became the Caposavi property.
